Disney XD (Canada)
Disney XD is a Canadian English-language specialty channel owned by Corus Entertainment. Introduced on December 1, 2015, it is a localized version of the U.S. cable network Disney XD, broadcasting live-action and animated programming aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 11 years old. Its launch marked the second Disney XD-branded network to operate in Canada, succeeding the original incarnation operated under the auspices of Family Channel due to Corus's acquisition of Canadian rights to Disney's children's television programming and associated brands.
==History==
A previous incarnation of Disney XD in Canada was operated by DHX Media (previously Astral Media) as a spin-off of Family Channel, which had historically held rights to the programming of Disney Channel and its spin-off brands.〔
On April 16, 2015, it was announced that Corus Entertainment had acquired Canadian rights to Disney Channel's program library, and that following the launch of a Canadian version of Disney Channel, they would relaunch the Disney XD and Disney Junior brands in the future. On November 9, 2015, Corus confirmed that it would launch its standalone Disney XD and Disney Junior networks on December 1, 2015, marking the competition of the transition of Disney's children's television brands to Corus-operated properties.
